Private hospital nurses rise in protest
Arun Janardhanan, Times of India, March 4, 2012 Joining the wave of protests across the country, nurses from several private hospitals in Chennai lashed out against their managements on Saturday, demanding better wages and work conditions. Nearly 2,000 nurses from Apollo Hospitals, Madras Medical Mission and Fortis Malar Hospital struck work holding placards that asked the management to 'respect our work.' Junior nurses are paid a gross monthly salary of ‘7,000 as against ‘20,000 their counterparts in government service draw.
