Québec nurses union hails 'huge' new deal

CBC News, November 15, 2010 Québec's largest nursing union reached a tentative deal with the province over the weekend, bringing an end to a year of tense negotiations. More than 58,000 nurses will vote later this month on the agreement in principle that was reached Sunday between the Quebec government and the Fédération interprofessionelle de la santé du Québec (FIQ). The new contract, if approved, would give nurses a two per cent wage hike, in addition to a 3.45 per cent wage increase when they have to stay late to hand off patient information to the next nurse on duty.
